Me and my design journey

Hello! I’m Haley Ho

I’m currently a senior at USC’s Iovine and Young Academy studying the intersection of design, technology, and business.

My interdisciplinary education has included courses in everything from product design, to web-development, to motion graphics, and design strategy.

Being at a major research university has also allowed me to learn from a variety of departments. Right now, I’m understanding how to tell visual stories in film, the applications of neural networks and AI, and linguistic theory.

My senior capstone project is focused on the future of creative tools, and what the interactions between creative professionals and artificial intelligence could look like.

Cohort 7 of the Iovine and Young Academy — a program founded by Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre — and 32 of the most talented designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs I know.

In other news…

I presented a design strategy project I worked on during an IYA Industry Lab with E&Y to USC President Carol Folt and the Board of Trustees in Ojai, CA.

During COVID-19, my design was selected as a finalist in a t-shirt competition. I donated the funds I made to SF New Deal, a nonprofit that fights food insecurity.

What’s next?

I’m looking for full-time roles in product design that would allow me to leverage my skills in visual design and strategy.

I’m also really interested in exploring how artificial intelligence will shape user experiences and interfaces over the next few years.

When I’m not using Figma…

I’m usually trying new food spots in LA, watching the sunset, or sipping on a good cup of coffee. Also a big fan of collecting Smitskis, my new lamp, and dancing to cheesy 2000s pop music :-)
